Our Story

In the spring of 2010 my lifelong journey of keeping honeybees began with a fateful look into a friends colony of honeybees in Asheville, NC.  The moment that I peered into the colony I was completely fascinated and awe stricken.  How does the Queen lay so many eggs to create the population that supports this super-organism?  How on earth did this family of tiny insects manage to build, with such beautiful symmetry, the paper thin Comb that I was witnessing?

That fall I sought out a local beekeeper and started my apprenticeship the following spring.  In 2011 I spent one day a week working for Jon Christie of Wild Mountain Bees, a commercial apiary and beekeeping supply company in Asheville, NC.  I caught my first swarm that spring, and brought my new colony to a community garden close to my house.  In 2012 I moved to Jon's farm and started working for him full time.  I climbed the steep learning curve of honeybee knowledge quite quickly, helping manage his 150 colonies for the season.  I increased my own apiary to three hives and was having the time of my life working with these amazing creatures.

In 2013 the bees and I moved to Charleston, SC.  I'm continuing to increase my number of colonies and am now producing raw honey and hive products.  I'm dedicated to raising honeybees in the most sustainable way possible to ensure the quality of the hive products that i'll be offering to you.
